Connecticut Dining
There’s a Connecticut dining experience to suit all pockets and tastes, from the very best and freshest seafood to prime ribs, they’ve got it all.
All of the things you can do in Connecticut will give your Type A spouse a packed schedule. But instead of following them around and getting exhausted as a result, you might want to check out vacation rental homes. In these cozy Connecticut rentals, you’ll be able to enjoy your own space without having to get up when your spouse does, like at the crack of dawn. They can spend their day learning about history and stuff, while you can doze in bed until you feel like starting your day. That’s what vacation and relaxing is all about – getting away from those you love.
Are you feeling a bit peckish? Well, if you happen to be in Connecticut that’s really not a problem, because they have such a wide variety of restaurants and New England dining experiences on offer, you’re sure to find something that takes your fancy, even if you’re a Jewish vegetarian on a Saturday night with no teeth, not sure how many of those go to Connecticut but you get the picture.
Traditional New England Food
The traditional food of New England is a combination of boiling and steaming (very English) with the ingredients which were used by the Native Americans. Fancy a bit of boiled buffalo then? That’s not quite right; they have loads of fresh fish in New England, cod, shellfish, clams, lobsters as well as other plentiful ingredients such as corn, potatoes, maple syrup and cranberries, yes, Connecticut (well, New England more precisely) is largely responsible for Americans developing a taste for maple syrup and candy, probably lots of dentists started that particular trend.
Connecticut Dining
There are loads of places where you can simply drop in for a quick bite, or reserve a table and enjoy a fine dining experience with the love of your life, everything is right here in Connecticut.
- Diners and Drive-Ins – One of the top ten diners & drive-ins in New England, Collin’s, is in Connecticut, and has been since 1941 so they must be doing something right. There’s also the New England Diners that have been supplying diners with everything from corned beef hash to Boston cream pie for decades. Good honest food for good honest prices, that’s how it is in Connecticut.
- Seafood – we’ve already mentioned the wonderful seafood available in Connecticut, and what better place to eat it than right on the sea front at Paddy’s, al fresco, with plenty of entertainment laid on for the kids, and the grown ups too
- Fine Dining – Connecticut has that covered too, especially at L’Escale Restaurant (why do they always have French names?) which sounds really up market don’t it? They serve lots of delicious fresh seafood but in a Mediterranean style with lots of herbs, or ‘erbs as they say in France. Of course there are other fine dining places to choose from too, with whatever style of cooking takes your fancy.
- Traditional Inn Dining – although many Americans love seafood, it’s only a matter of time before they start craving for that old favorite and staple of their diet – prime rib, but don’t worry, there’s no shortage of places which can supply you with as many ribs as you can possibly manage to stuff down your neck, for an inclusive price. Now that’s what we call the American way.
