Connecticut Airports and Tickets
Depending on where you’re flying from, there are a few Connecticut airports and tickets to choose from.
If you really fancy paying Connecticut a visit, and who wouldn’t, don’t despair if you’re not within driving distance, because they’ve got plenty of airports where you can fly into at the start of your vacation.
Bradley International Airport (BDL) Connecticut
Located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, Bradley International Airport is the only airport that has both national and international traffic, including some of the major airline flights. It’s just a short distance from Hartford, the capital and is ideally located to serve many other major cities and destinations in the New England area. Distances from Bradley International Airport:
- Hartford, Connecticut – 11 miles – just up the road then, hey, I can see my house from here
- New Haven, Connecticut – 44 miles
- Springfield, Massachusetts – 13 miles – is that where Bart and Homer live?
- Boston, Massachusetts – 86 miles – are you going to the Boston Tea Party?
- Albany, New York – 76 miles
- New York, New York – 106 miles – didn’t somebody sing a song about that once, it’s so great they named it twice?
You can fly to Bradley International Airport from all over America and many other places in the world too, and if they don’t have a direct flight you’ll be able to get a connection, hee hee, getting connected in Connecticut, they do say little things please little minds. They are always adding new routes for non-stop flights so wherever you are coming from, it’s worth checking the service at Bradley International Airport.
Danbury Municipal Airport (DXR)
Just less than 50 miles outside of Hartford is Danbury Airport but this one is for charter and private planes only, so if you’ve got your pilots license or own your very own private jet and don’t want to risk the paparazzi, fly into Danbury for the start of a very private vacation in Connecticut.
Igor Sikorsky Memorial Airport (BDR)
East of Bridgeport in Stratford is the Igor Sikorsky Memorial Airport – originally the Bridgeport Municipal Airport, this one does have a passenger terminal and check in desks along with private hangers. You’ll be able to have a meal at the restaurant while you’re waiting for your flight, or rent a car when you arrive, so they do have very good facilities even though there are no commercial flights. It is a bit further away though:
- Hartford, Connecticut – 45 miles
- Mystic, Connecticut – 60 miles
- New York, New York, there we go again, repeating ourselves – 54 miles
- Providence, Rhode Island – 98 miles – quite a drive then, good job you can get a rental car
If you’re traveling to Connecticut from much further a field, you might find it convenient to fly into JFK Airport in New York, especially if you’re visiting Fairfield, Connecticut, it’s only:
- Fairfield, Connecticut – 44 miles
- Hartford, Connecticut – 94 miles
Not far really in the big scheme of things, not when you think about all of the fantastic things that are waiting for you in Connecticut to make your vacation a once in a lifetime experience.
